NDA to Win 90–100 Seats in Assam Assembly Polls, Says Himanta Biswa Sarma

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday expressed confidence that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will secure a decisive victory in the upcoming Assam Assembly elections, projecting a tally of 90 to 100 seats.
Addressing the media during an election campaign event, Sarma said the NDA is poised to retain power with a strong mandate in the 126-member Assembly. He attributed the optimism to what he described as the government’s development work and public support across regions.
The Chief Minister also downplayed the prospects of the opposition, stating that the Indian National Congress may be restricted to around 16–17 seats, while the All India United Democratic Front could secure only a handful of constituencies. Other regional parties are unlikely to make a significant impact, he added.
Sarma further claimed that the NDA would perform strongly in key areas such as Upper Assam and urban centres like Guwahati, along with several strategically important विधानसभा constituencies.
The remarks come as campaigning intensifies ahead of the high-stakes Assam Assembly elections, where political parties are stepping up outreach efforts to woo voters. The electoral battle is expected to witness a multi-cornered contest, with the ruling NDA seeking a second consecutive term.
Election dates are expected to be announced soon, with voting likely to take place later this month.
