The city witnessed an enthusiastic turnout at its first-ever ‘Junior Circuit’ kids’ obstacle race, with over 500 participants, including children and parents, taking part in the event held at Arya College Playground on Sunday.
Organised by Culture Club Preschool in collaboration with House of Play, the event catered to children aged 3 to 15 years. Designed as a non-competitive activity, the race focused on encouraging participation, outdoor engagement, and family bonding rather than ranking or timing participants.
The event saw around 250 children and nearly 300 parents joining the initiative, reflecting a growing interest in fitness-oriented recreational activities among families in Guwahati. Participants navigated a one-kilometre course featuring around 15 obstacles such as crawling tunnels, balance beams, and cargo nets.
A key highlight of the event was the involvement of parents, who participated alongside their children, making it a shared and engaging experience. Organisers said the initiative aimed to promote physical activity among children and counter increasingly sedentary lifestyles.
Speaking on the occasion, organisers noted that such activities help children build confidence, resilience, and teamwork while enjoying outdoor play. All participants who completed the course were acknowledged, reinforcing the spirit of participation over competition.
Following the success of the inaugural edition, organisers expressed plans to host similar events in the future and expand the ‘Junior Circuit’ into a regular feature in the city’s recreational calendar.
