The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has exuded confidence about returning to power in Assam for a third consecutive term, with party national president Nitin Nabin asserting that the party is on course for a “hat-trick” victory in the upcoming विधानसभा elections.
Addressing a public rally at Ledo in Tinsukia district, Nabin urged voters to continue their support for the BJP, citing development and stability under the party’s rule since 2016. He said the people of Assam have witnessed significant transformation over the past decade and would once again place their trust in the BJP.
Launching a sharp attack on the Indian National Congress, Nabin termed its tenure in the state a “black chapter,” alleging that it was marked by unrest, corruption, and lack of development. He accused the Congress of engaging in vote-bank politics and failing to address key issues affecting the people of Assam.
Highlighting the achievements of the BJP-led government, Nabin credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for ushering in peace, improved infrastructure, and welfare-driven governance in the state. He said Assam has emerged as a model of growth in the Northeast under BJP leadership.
Emphasising the need for continuity, Nabin appealed to voters to give the BJP a decisive mandate in the upcoming polls, stating that ongoing development projects would gain further momentum with another term in office.
The Assam Legislative Assembly elections are scheduled to be held on April 9, with counting of votes expected on May 4.
