A 43-year-old man from Assam died after allegedly falling from a running train in Balasore district of Odisha, police officials said on Monday.
According to reports, the incident occurred when the man, who was travelling on a train passing through Balasore, fell from the moving coach under unclear circumstances. Local railway police recovered the body near the railway tracks and initiated an investigation into the incident.
Authorities said preliminary findings suggest that the victim may have lost balance and fallen from the train while it was in motion. However, officials have not ruled out other possibilities and are examining the exact cause of the fall.
The identity of the deceased has been confirmed as a resident of Assam, though further personal details were yet to be officially disclosed at the time of reporting. Police have informed the victim’s family and are completing the necessary legal formalities, including a post-mortem examination.
Railway police officials stated that an inquiry has been launched to determine the sequence of events leading to the tragedy. Further investigation is underway.
