The entry of new political players is reshaping the electoral dynamics in Assam ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections, with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Jana Bhagidari Party (JBP) and Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) emerging as key disruptors in an already complex contest.
Traditionally dominated by the BJP-led NDA and the Congress-led opposition, Assam’s political landscape is now witnessing a multi-cornered contest. AAP has stepped up its presence by fielding candidates across several constituencies and focusing on governance, education and urban issues, aiming to attract young and first-time voters.
